Teaching With Mercy

In the name of the One Who is the Desire of all the worlds.

We commanded the pilgrims of the Ka‘bah of the Merciful to proclaim, and We also detailed the paths of proclamation in many Tablets, that all may hold fast to what God has commanded and occupy themselves with giving life to dead souls.

Yet it is seen that some have deviated from the straight path of wisdom—which is the very foundation of the divine city. For example: they give meat to an infant in place of milk, and poison to a sick person in place of antidote.

Say: O you who turn to the horizon of guidance! You are the spiritual physicians and the true sages. You must look to the requirements of times and days and souls.

A soul that is shaken by the mention of guardianship—how can it be fit to bear the mention of divinity? Souls who considered themselves among the strong and learned of the people of the Bayán were struck senseless at the mention of divinity; how much more, then, souls raised in the Qur’an and afflicted for centuries in the hands of scholars of illusion!

Do not waste the grains of Lordly wisdom in barren lands. Speak according to the measure of each soul. All things with Him are by a measure.

You must raise the child of seeking on the milk of goodly character and pure deeds, and afterward on the wholesome fruits of guardianship and the like, until it reaches the boundary of growth and maturity. At that time, if it is nourished with the morsel of the remembrances of divinity and lordship, it will be no cause of harm.

This is a clear principle: every soul has sought and will seek the knowledge of the True One, and the cause of its turning away, objection, heedlessness, and ignorance has been fancies arranged beforehand; and burning away these fancies is very difficult, except through the measures of holy, perfect souls.

The mercy of God has preceded all things, as is plainly seen, and His sanctified Essence deals with the servants with utmost kindness, mercy, and compassion. All must walk in the track of His footsteps, and mention the Beloved according to the measure of seeking, and offer the Cupbearer of the Kawthar of recognition according to the measure of thirst.

We created souls in stages.

God willing, by divine favor and the outpourings of the cloud of the Lordly mercy, you will be occupied in service to the Cause, and you will remind the friends of the True One of what has been sent down in this Tablet from the Most Exalted Pen, that all may share from the Kawthar of utterance and rejoice in what the Tongue of the Merciful has spoken.

We have mentioned you that you may remind the people by the Tablet of your Lord. He is the Remembrancer, the Knowing.
